Hedge and Shade is a Christian ministry founded on the recognition that God is deeply interested in the well-being of human beings, for whom Jesus Christ died. We seek the emotional, spiritual, and physical health of the people He loves. It's why Hedge and Shade exists at all.

We believe that:

- the Bible is the Word of God, both Old and New Testaments, "and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness," (2 Timothy 3:16).

- Jesus is the Messiah promised in the Hebrew Scriptures, the Son of God who died for our sins and rose from the dead to conquer death for us, according to the Scriptures (John 3:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

- sin both exists and leads to death (Romans 6:23). Trusting God and obeying Him protects us from the Enemy's efforts to destroy us  (Psalm 119; 1 Peter 5:8).

- God is the King of the Universe, the Creator of all the natural and supernatural realms (Genesis 1; Colossians 1:16; Revelation 4:11).

- every human being has gifts and talents, and every member of the Body of Christ is an important part of the whole (1 Corinthians 12-14).  A vital goal of our ministry is to help people who previously felt only shame and brokenness find their purposes in Christ. Some are teachers and some are administrators, some have gifts of knowledge or discernment or healing or mad math skills, and others are artists or problem solvers. There are a multitude of gifts, and when everybody works in their gifts together, they bless the whole Body.

- God so great that He even knows the number of hairs on our heads (Luke 12:7). We believe that every human being is precious to Him, that He can make something beautiful from the broken pieces of our lives (Isaiah 61:3).

(If questions of doctrine deeply concern you, please feel free to write us.  We are willing to describe our position on any matter. In all cases, we work to honestly support our views with Scripture, but we also recognize that there are doctrinal questions that are not easy to answer - about which devoted Christians can disagree and remain in good fellowship.)
